Shaft kiln is a vertical fixed bed clinker calcination equipment, is also a necessary production of lime kiln: coal raw material from the kiln top into the kiln, limestone material from top to bottom movement, the air from bottom to top movement. Its physical and chemical changes and rotary kiln is basically the same, the shaft kiln from top to bottom is divided into three zones: preheating zone, high temperature firing zone and cooling zone. The shape of the kiln is of great importance to the movement of the material in the kiln and the distribution of airflow in the kiln. There are four kinds of lime production shaft kiln: straight shaft shaft kiln, trumpet shaft kiln, dumbbell shaped shaft kiln, rectangular section shaft kiln.

Inner diameter and height
        The inner diameter of the kiln is determined by the nature of the calcined product, temperature, and flexibility of the operation. Shaft kiln liner material requirements of high temperature, less heat, with a certain strength. Vertical kiln kiln lining three layers, the innermost layer for the working layer, the middle of the permanent layer, sub-outer layer for the insulation layer, the outermost layer of steel plate. The preheating zone and the cooling zone require a working layer to withstand wear and heat shock, while the calcination zone also requires high temperature corrosion of the gas.

According to the location of the duct into the kiln body is divided into the bottom of the blast (central blast) and the waist blast (peripheral blast) in two ways. The kiln exhaust system consists mainly of kiln covers and chimneys (natural exhaust), or mechanical smoke.
